Penny&Pearl is my business, created with love and passion as an Aboriginal woman. I design earrings and sell other Aboriginal-inspired merchandise that reflects my heritage and Australian up-bringing. My target audience includes both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, as I want to share my culture and art with a wide range of individuals. Through this website, I aim to provide a space where people can explore and purchase my creations, while also engaging with my blog. What makes Penny&Pearl unique is that I am a direct descendant of the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi people, so the art I create is authentic and deeply rooted in my local heritage.
Living on the beautiful Sunshine Coast for the past 20 years has deeply influenced my art and connection to my heritage. The natural beauty of this place, with its stunning landscapes and rich cultural history, has been a constant source of inspiration. My passion for art has only grown stronger over the years, and I feel it's time to share this piece of my story with the world. As an Aboriginal woman, there have been times when I’ve felt my voice has gone unheard, and my story overlooked. For many years, I struggled to find spaces where my perspective was valued and embraced. But through my art, I’ve found a powerful way to express myself and share my experiences. Each design and creation is a reflection of my journey, my identity, and the resilience of my ancestors. My art is not just about creating beautiful pieces—it's about giving a voice to a community that has long been silenced, and ensuring that our stories are seen and heard. As a 'girls girl,' I’m passionate about advocating for a voice in many areas—whether it's for women, my culture, or anyone who needs to be uplifted. I believe in using my platform to inspire change and foster a sense of empowerment.
Family is everything to me, and I strive to be a positive role model for the next generation. I want to show young people, especially young women, that they can take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way, no matter where they come from. I believe in the power of perseverance, hard work, and faith in oneself. As a woman, I draw inspiration from the Proverbs 31 woman—the one who is strong, wise, and diligent in her work, supporting and nurturing those around her. I aim to live by those principles, creating a legacy for my family and my community that demonstrates the importance of resilience, kindness, and living with purpose.
